Social selling/retail
Social Selling: using social interactions and personal connections to generate sales and market products.
Social media platforms are often used to reach customers- Pintrest, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn
More sales can be generated when the customer can relate to the representative.
Trunk Show: a sales event for showing merchandise to staff or select customers.
Bringing the product directly to the customer.
Think: Tupperware Party
Customers have the opportunity to try out and purchase products, often times receiving exclusive previews before a product goes public.
After sampling products, purchased items are often ordered and shipped to the customer.
Trunk shows are popular for the bridal industry.
Social retailing separates itself from traditional brick & mortar spaces such as big box retailers (Walmart, Target) stand-alone retailers (Macy's) and shopping malls. The market for these institutions has been hurt by competition from online shopping. People prefer shopping experiences and products that are an expression/extension of their lifestyle.
In the past, the design of a retail space was key to selling the product. Although this is still important, social retail practices realize that the product itself is the backbone of the industry and therefore the concrete structure/location is secondary to selling the product.

Money Shot: Window Display
I took this shot at 6:30pm in hopes of reducing the amount of solar glare on the window. I think it turned out pretty good, but it's better in person of course!
Window Display Mood Boards
This first image I created as an option that was shown to the shop owner.
Second is my sketch of the concept that was developed.
